Best decaf coffee subscription for variety and taste
Trade offers the widest variety of premium craft-roasted decaf coffee at the best price point and with free shipping.

As a coffee lover, I’ve tried several coffee subscription services. The one I stuck with longest before I found Trade was Blue Bottle. Blue Bottle was good, but my palate grew tired of getting coffee from the same roaster. It was akin to how Starbucks coffee has a unique flavor because of how they roast their beans, but after a while, it just gets old and doesn’t taste as good as it used to.
When I started my search for a new coffee subscription, I had three things that were important to me:
- Roaster Variety – I wanted a subscription to provide coffee from multiple roasters.
- Craft Roasters – I wanted to avoid giant corporate-owned coffee makers like Blue Bottle and Starbucks and get coffee from local roasters nationwide.
- Excellent Decaf – I wanted to reduce my caffeine intake without sacrificing taste, which craft roasters are known for.
Trade checked off all of my boxes, and after using them for many months, they are the best coffee subscription I’ve ever used

Trade has over 600 coffees from over 50 craft roasters. So, if you’re looking for variety, Trade has you covered. And if you’re like me and looking for decaf coffees that don’t compromise on flavor, Trade has precisely what you want.
When I signed up, I was given a series of questions to assist Trade in curating my coffee. Then I picked their Trade Plus subscription, their highest quality coffee tier, and chose to receive one bag of whole beans per week. Days later, I received a bright red package with my first bag of beans.

Before I tell you how good the coffee is, I’d like to tell you how I make coffee because how you make coffee is the secret to unlocking the best flavor.
After several years of trying to find the most efficient method to make the best coffee, I settled on the Fellow Ode Brew Grinder and Chemex Ottomatic Coffeemaker.
- Ode Grinder – With this grinder, you add precisely the amount of coffee beans you need, and the grinder automatically stops when there are no more beans. It also has the perfect grind setting for Chemex, which I’ve found to be 4.6.
- Chemex Ottomatic – This coffeemaker perfectly mimics the pour-over coffee-making method. I pour water into the reservoir, pour the coffee grinds into the filter, and turn it on. It makes perfect-tasting coffee every time!

Automated pour-over is highly underrated. This makes coffee as good or better than when I do a manual pour-over with a kettle.
All of the decaf coffees I’ve received so far have been excellent, but two, in particular, are outstanding. Trade keeps track of every bag it sends you, and you can view your orders on their site to find and reorder the coffee you like best.
Thus far, my favorite decaf coffees have been Easy Does It from Good Citizen Coffee and Colombia Huila from PERC.

Trade offers two subscription plans:
- Trade is $15.75 per bag and is their value-based selection equivalent to buying the best coffee at a grocery store.
- Trade Plus is $19.50 per bag and is their best coffee, representing every flavor, country of origin, and processing method you can imagine. (That’s the one I’m subscribed to)
The Trade coffee subscription gets a 5 out of 5 because all the coffees have been delicious, the variety of coffee and roasters are incredible, they have free shipping, and the price point is the same as buying locally.
